It is reported that German shipowner and operator Oldendorff is retrofitting LED lighting for all ships of the company's fleet, and energy efficiency will increase by 80%.
Oldendorff carried out a series of tests on 4 ships. The test results show that LED lights have improved energy efficiency by 80% compared to traditional lighting methods. Not only can the number of lights be reduced, but the service life is also nearly 5 times higher.
"Using LEDs will reduce the need for electricity and thus reduce the emissions of each ship." Oldendorff said that LED lamps can also reduce the crew's workload of replacing lamps because of their long life and are not easily damaged.
Currently, Oldendorff has been equipped with LED lights on 6 ships. The company plans to install LED lights when the ships are docked, or it will be installed by the crew on future voyages.
According to experts, LED color temperature can be selected in the range of 2000K to 9000K, and the selectivity and color richness are better than traditional lamps. If used properly, the crew can get a better lighting environment. The crew has been in a comfortable lighting environment for a long time, which can also reduce depression, tension and other negative psychology.
