Due to the advantages of reduced energy consumption, relatively low maintenance frequency, and long life, LEDs have gradually promoted plans in recent years around the world to convert traditional light bulbs such as high-voltage sodium lamps into LEDs.

According to US media reports, the newly upgraded LED lights will soon illuminate the toll road in Illinois, USA.

A few days ago, the leaders of the Illinois Highway Bureau and the ComEd, an electric power company in Illinois, held discussions to provide new energy-saving LED lamps for toll roads.

The upgraded system is designed to increase security while reducing energy consumption and saving money.

There are several ongoing construction projects. The Illinois Highway Bureau predicts that by 2021, 90% of system lighting will be LEDs.

State highway bureau officials said they plan to install all LED lighting by the end of 2026.

In addition, according to British media reports, a street lamp upgrade program in North Yorkshire in northeast England is bringing environmental and economic benefits faster than expected.

To date, the North Yorkshire Council has converted more than 35,000 street lights (80% of the target number) into LEDs. This financial year alone saved £ 800,000 in energy and maintenance costs.

The three-year project also significantly reduced its carbon footprint, saving more than 2,400 tons of carbon dioxide per year, and reducing the number of street lighting defects by about half.
