斯里兰卡历史悠久，1948年2月4日，正式宣告独立。为了永远纪念这来之不易的日子，斯里兰卡人民将2月4日定为自己的国庆日兼独立日。

Sri Lanka has a long history. On February 4, 1948, it officially declared independence.To commemorate this hard-won day forever, the people of Sri Lanka have set February 4 as their National Day and Independence Day.

每年的这一天，首都科伦坡都要鸣炮21响， 擂鼓吹螺，并举行由陆海空三军组成的仪仗队和各界人士参加的游行活动。由总统发表的重要讲话或文告也传遍全国各地，人们都以各种形式庆贺自己的国庆日。

On this day of each year, Colombo, the capital, fires 21 cannons, slams and snails, and holds a parade of honor guards composed of the three armed forces of the land, sea and air and people from all walks of life. Important speeches or statements issued by the president have also spread throughout the country, and people celebrate their National Day in various forms.

又称怀唐伊日，1840年2月6日，毛利人和英国王室在怀唐伊签署了《怀唐伊条约》，确立了新西兰成为英国殖民地。

Also known as Waitangi Day, on February 6, 1840, the Maori and the British royal family signed the Treaty of Waitangi at Waitangi, establishing New Zealand as a British colony.

每年的国庆日，新西兰政府都会组织一系列的庆典活动，诸如，新西兰皇家海军及空军的表演及阅兵式，传统毛利歌舞表演，以及各式各样的体育运动及文化活动等。

Every year on National Day, the New Zealand government organizes a series of celebrations, such as performances and parades of the Royal New Zealand Navy and Air Force, traditional Maori song and dance performances, and various sports and cultural activities.

泰国•万佛节 

Makha Bucha Day 

节日起源 

Festival Origin 

相传佛教创始人释迦牟尼，于泰历三月十五日在摩揭陀国王舍城竹林园大殿，向自动前来集会的1250名罗汉首次宣传教义，故称其为四方具备的集会。笃信小乘佛教的泰国佛教徒视该次集会为佛教创建之日，进行隆重纪念。

According to legend, the founder of Buddhism, Shakyamuni, promoted the doctrine for the first time to 1,250 Arhats who came to the rally in the hall of the bamboo forest garden of King Shoji City of Mojedaw on March 15th of the Thai calendar. Thai Buddhists who believe in Theravada Buddhism regard the rally as the day of the founding of Buddhism and commemorate it.

万佛节的早晨，泰国男女老少带著鲜花、香烛和施舍物品前往附近寺院，进行施斋、焚香、拜佛活动。

On the morning of Wan Buddha Festival, Thai men, women, and children brought flowers, incense and alms to nearby temples for fasting, burning incense and worshiping Buddha.

伊朗•伊斯兰革命胜利纪念日 

Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution 

节日简介 

Festival Introduction 

 

1979年1月，统治伊朗37年之久的巴列维国王被迫离开伊朗，流亡国外15年之久的宗教领袖霍梅尼从法国回到德黑兰，2月11日宣布接管政权，随后成立伊朗伊斯兰共和国，这一天被定为国庆日，现已成为伊朗的法定假日。

In January 1979, King Pahlavi, who ruled Iran for 37 years, was forced to leave Iran. Khomeini, a religious leader in exile for 15 years, returned to Tehran from France, announced the takeover of the regime on February 11, and then established Iran In the Islamic Republic, this day is designated as National Day and has now become a legal holiday in Iran.

这个节日最早适用于纪念美国的第一位总统乔治华盛顿，后来慢慢成为纪念美国历史上的所有总统了。美国的10个法定节日之一，定在每年二月的第三个星期一，与阵亡将士纪念日，感恩节等享有同等地位。

This festival was first used to commemorate the first president of the United States, George Washington, and later to commemorate all presidents in American history. One of the ten statutory holidays in the United States is scheduled to be held on the third Monday of February each year, and has the same status as Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and so on.

每年的这一天美国人都会用一些特殊的方式来重温历史、缅怀人们心中备受尊敬的伟大总统，学校和家长也会在这一天对孩子进行爱国主义教育，让他们了解和熟悉美国的历史。

On this day of the year, Americans will use some special ways to relive history and remember the great respected president in the hearts of people. Schools and parents will also patriotize their children on this day to let them understand and become familiar with American history.

这一天又被视为俄罗斯的“男人节”。苏联政府多次对这一节日的来源作出不同解释，如1942年2月23日，根据当时的战争形势，斯大林在讲话中解释说，这一天之所以成为节日，是因为在1918年2月23日刚刚组建起来的工农红军就击退了德国侵略者的进攻。而在1951年，苏联政府对这一节日的来源进行了新的阐述，说这一天是彼得格勒和其他城市全民动员，组建工农红军的日子，所以这一天是建军节。

This day is regarded as Russia's "Men's Day" . The Soviet government has repeatedly explained the origin of this festival, such as February 23, 1942. According to the war situation at the time, Stalin explained in his speech that this day became a festival because it was on February 23, 1918. The Red Army of Workers and Peasants just formed in Japan repelled the German invaders' attack. In 1951, the Soviet government elaborated on the origin of this festival, saying that this day was the day when Petrograd and other cities mobilized the whole people to form the Red Army of workers and peasants, so this day was the Army Day.

这一天里，女人们会给她们的男性亲友赠送礼物，女同学或女同事也会在前一天或后一天的工作日，给男同学、男同事送上一份小礼品。

On this day, women will give gifts to their male relatives and friends, and female classmates or female colleagues will give a small gift to male classmates and male colleagues on the working day before or after the next day.

科威特•国庆节 

Kuwait National Day

1991年2月26日，科威特从伊拉克占领下解放。科威特将对独立日的庆祝从6月19日改至2月25日，是为了与科第十一任埃米尔（阿卜杜拉·萨巴赫）的登基日相吻合，以纪念这位君主在建设一个独立的、完全主权的科威特国方面所做的贡献。

On February 26, 1991, Kuwait was liberated from Iraqi occupation. Kuwait changed the celebration of Independence Day from June 19th to February 25th to coincide with the eleventh day of the eleventh Emir (Abdullah al-Sabah), in honor of the monarch ’s Contributions to the construction of an independent and fully sovereign Kuwaiti State.

2月25日是科威特的国庆日，2月26日是解放日，科威特人会连休两天，参与盛大的庆祝活动。节日期间，科威特街道边的建筑物纷纷以国旗色张灯结彩，很多当地人会聚集在海边和最热闹的街道，拿着庆祝生日用的彩条罐子互喷。人们纷纷驾车来到科威特海湾大道，举行隆重的庆祝活动。

February 25 is Kuwait ’s National Day and February 26 is Liberation Day. Kuwaiti people will rest for two consecutive days to participate in grand celebrations. During the festival, the buildings on the streets of Kuwait are illuminated with national flags. Many locals will gather by the sea and the most lively streets, spraying each other with colorful cans for celebrating birthdays. People drove to Kuwait Bay Avenue for a grand celebration.

英国•煎饼节 Pancake Tuesday

1445年的英国白金汉郡的奥尔尼镇，一个主妇煎煎饼的时候，突然想起来要去教堂做礼拜。于是她就端着煎锅冲出门了，中途还给煎饼翻了几次面，生怕煎饼糊了。

In 1445, Olney, Buckinghamshire, England, when a housewife fry pancakes, she suddenly remembered going to church for worship. So she rushed out the door holding a frying pan, and turned the pancake several times in the middle, fearing that the pancake would be mushy.

又称忏悔星期二，基督教的传统节日之一。世界上有很多国家都会庆祝这个节日，不过当属在英国最为盛行。煎饼赛跑是煎饼节的传统节目，场面十分有趣。

多国•狂欢节 Carnival

曾与复活节密切相关：复活节前有一个为期40天的大斋期，即为四旬斋。在斋期里，人们禁止娱乐、食肉，所以在斋期开始前的3天里人们纵情欢乐，称之为“狂欢节”。

It was closely related to Easter: there is a 40-day fasting period before Easter, which is Lent. During the fasting period, people are forbidden from entertaining and eating meat, so during the 3 days before the fasting period, people indulge in joy and call it "Carnival".

目前欧洲和南美洲都有庆祝狂欢节的习惯，一般在2月中下旬。男女老少披红挂绿，艳装浓抹，载歌载舞，春潮决堤般地涌向大街。

At present, it is customary to celebrate Carnival in Europe and South America, usually in mid-late February. Men and women, young and old, dang red and green, dressed up in thick costumes, sang and danced, and the spring tide rushed to the street like a dyke.
