LED bulb prices to drop to $5 in 2015

In the Taiwan market, the government in July 2014 required that LED bulb to be produced or sold in Taiwan pass national standards on safety, service life and luminous efficiency. And the proportion of all lighting products for LED bulbs and down lights in the Taiwan market has risen to 50% currently and will further rise to 70% in 2015.

An industry insider indicated that the lowest price for an LED bulb will drop from $8 in 2014 to $5 in 2015 and ex-factory prices will slip to $2~$3 in 2015.The price drop is mainly because many Chinese LED packaging service providers and LED lighting suppliers have started price-cut competition.

There were 900~1,200 million LED bulbs sold around the world in 2014, and the volume is expected to reach 2~2.5 billion units in 2015.
